Dua for Studying and Hard Tasks
Opening supplication of a dars by Shaykh Faisal and Grand Shaykh.
Arabic
أَعُوذُ بِاللهِ السَّمِيعِ العَلِيمِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ ، بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
الحَمْدُ للهِ رَبِّ العَالَمِينَ ، وَالصَّلاَةُ وَالسَّلاَمُ عَلَى سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ ، وَعَلَى آلِهِ وَصَحْبِهِ أَجْمَعِينَ.
وأَشْهَدُ أَنْ لاَ إِلٰهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَحْدَهُ لاَ شَرِيكَ لَهُ ، وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُ اللهِ وَرَسُولُهُ.
اللَّهُمَّ افْتَحْ عَلَيْنَا فُتُوحَ الْعَارِفِينَ ، وَوَفِّقْنَا تَوْفِيقَ الصَّالِحِينَ ، وَنَفْعْنَا اللَّهُمَّ بِالْقُرْآنِ وَذِكْرِ الْحَكِيمِ.
اللَّهُمَّ لاَ سَهْلَ إِلَّا مَا جَعَلْتَهُ سَهْلًا، وَأَنْتَ يَا حَيُّ يَا قَيُّومُ تَجْعَلُ الحَزْنَ إِذَا شِئْتَ سَهْلًا.
اللَّهُمَّ أَعِذْنَا مِنْ شُرُورِ أَنْفُسِنَا، وَمِنْ سَيِّئَاتِ أَعْمَالِنَا، وَأَصْلِحْ لَنَا شَأْنَنَا كُلَّهُ.
لاَ إِلٰهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ، نَسْتَغْفِرُكَ وَنَتُوبُ إِلَيْكَ.
وَلاَ حَوْلَ وَلاَ قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللهِ العَلِيِّ العَظِيمِ.
وَصَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالَى عَلَى سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِهِ وَأَصْحَابِهِ أَجْمَعِينَ.
I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan. In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may peace and blessings be upon our leader Muhammad, and upon his family and companions. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, alone without partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and messenger.
O Allah, open for us the doors of understanding and guide us to the guidance of the righteous, and benefit us through the Qur’an and the mention of the Wise.
O Allah, teach us what is beneficial and benefit us through what You have taught us, and increase us in Your favor with knowledge and education that brings us closer to You through Your mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful.
O Allah, protect us from the evil of our own selves and from the consequences of our actions, and fix our affairs. We say: ‘There is no god but You, we seek Your forgiveness and turn to You in repentance.‘
Intention to Study
Dua of intention to study by Imam al-Haddad.
Arabic
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ ، للَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِهِ وَصَحْبِهِ وَسَلِّمْ نَوَيْتُ التَّعَلُّمَ وَالتَّعْلِيمَ ، وَالتَّأْدِيبَ وَالتَّأْديبَ ، وَالتَّذَكُّرَ وَالتَّذْكِيرَ ، وَالنَّفْعَ وَالِانْتِفَاعَ ، وَالِإفَادَةَ وَالِاسْتِفَادَةَ ، وَالدَّعْوَةَ إِلَى الْهُدَى ، وَالدَّلَالَةَ عَلَى الْخَيْرِ ، وَالْحَثَّ عَلَى التَّمَسُّكِ بِكِتَابِ اللَّهِ وَسُنَّةِ رَسُولِهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، ابْتِغَاءَ مَرْضَاةِ اللَّهِ وَقُرْبِهِ وَثَوَابِهِ سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى
In the Name of God, Most Merciful, Compassionate
All praise to Allah, Lord of the Worlds. And salutations and greetings upon our master Muhammad and upon his family and companions.
I intend to study and teach, to take and give reminder, take and give benefit, take and give advantage, to encourage the holding fast to the book of Allah and the way of His Messenger, upon him be peace, and calling to guidance and directing towards good, hoping for the countenance of Allah and His pleasure, proximity, and reward.
Transcendent is He.
Duʿāʾ to remove anxiety and worries
Arabic
للَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْهَمِّ وَ الْحَزَنِ وَ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ العَجْزِ وَ الْكَسَلِ وَ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْجُبْنِ وَ الْبُخْلِ وَ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ غَلَبَةِ الدَّيْنِ و قَهْرِ الرجال
Oh Allah, I seek refuge in You from worry and grief, from helplessness and laziness, from cowardice and stinginess, and from overpowering of debt and from oppression of men.
Taha (20:114)
رَّبِّ زِدْنِي عِلْمًا
Oh my Lord, increase me in knowledge.
Duʿāʾ for knowledge and success (26: 83-85)
Arabic
رَبِّ هَبْ لِى حُكْمًا وَأَلْحِقْنِى بِٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ ٨٣ وَٱجْعَل لِّى لِسَانَ صِدْقٍۢ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ ٨٤ وَٱجْعَلْنِى مِن وَرَثَةِ جَنَّةِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ ٨٥
[And he said], “My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous. And grant me a mention [i.e., reputation] of honor among later generations. And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure.
Duʿāʾ for success in speech and presentation (20: 25-28)
Arabic
رَبِّي اِشْرَحْلِي صَدْرِي وَ يَسِّرْلِي أَمْرِي وَاحْلُلْ عُقْدَةً مِّن لِّسَانِي يَفْقَهُوا قَوْلِي
My Lord! Uplift my heart for me, and ease for me my task. And remove the impediment from my tongue, so that they may understand my speech.
Duʿāʾ for ease and success in life
Arabic
اللهُمَّ لاَ سَهْلَ إِلَا مَا جَعَلْتَهَ سَهْلاً وَأَنْتَ تَجْعَلُ الْحَزْنَ إِذَا شِئْتَ سَهْلاً
“O Allah, there is no ease except in that which You have made easy and You make the difficulty if You wish, easy.”
