According to Imam al-Ghazali in his Jerusalem Epistle, the third pillar of Iman is God’s acts. This is done through learning ten foundations:
- Human actions are created by God.
- Human actions are acquired by people.
- Human actions are willed by God.
- God creates and originates freely through His grace.
- God is able to charge people with more than they could bear.
- God is able to cause the innocent to suffer.
- God is not obliged to do what is most beneficial.
- Only the law can impose obligations.
- It is rationally possible for God to send prophets.
- The prophethood of Muḥammad is affirmed and supported by miracles.
